Enable
Java

The page at the following link will determine if Java is already enabled. If it is not, follow the instructions below. When you are finished, close the page.

Is Java enabled?

If it is, close this page now. If not, proceed below.

1. Enable Java
If you have a Java-capable browser (IE, Netscape) but the presentation will not load, you may need to enable Java in your browser. The method for doing this differs from browser to browser.

a. Netscape under Microsoft Windows, Macintosh OS, or Linux
Under the "Edit" menu click "Preferences." A dialog box will appear. In the left-hand pane, select "Advanced." In the right-hand pane, make sure the box beside the words "Enable Java" is checked.

b. Internet Explorer 4.x under Microsoft Windows
Under the "View" menu click "Internet Options". A dialog box will appear. Select the "Security" tab. Under "Set the security level for this zone" select "Custom" and click the "Settings" button. Another dialog box will pop up. Scroll down to the Java section. If "Disable Java" is selected, select "Medium safety" instead. Click "OK" in both dialog boxes.

c. Internet Explorer 5.x and 6.x under Microsoft Windows
Under the "Tools" menu click "Internet Options". A dialog box will appear. Select the "Security" tab. Under "Security level for this zone" click the "Custom Level" button. Another dialog box will pop up. Scroll down to the Microsoft VM section. If "Disable Java" is selected, select "Medium safety" instead. Click "OK" in both dialog boxes.

d. Internet Explorer 4.x and 5.x under Macintosh OS
Under the "Edit" menu click "Preferences." A dialog box will appear. In the left-hand pane, if the triangle beside "Web Browser" is pointing right, click the triangle so it points down. Select "Java" in the left-hand pane. Then, in the right-hand pane, make sure the box beside the words "Enable Java" is checked.

2. If it still doesn’t work, click here: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp and follow the directions for installing java.

Tips and Controls

Presentations are optimized for viewing at a 1024x768 resolution. If you cannot view the whole presentation in the window, try changing your resolution.

If you can see the presentation but do not hear any voice, try adjusting your speaker controls.

A known problem: Part-way through the presentation you receive a "Connection Reset Error." We have linked this error to having instant messanging clients (AOL IM, Yahoo! Messanger) active while viewing. Close any messanging programs you have running and restart the presentation.
